Some subprocess of the installer still crashes at end on wine-1.3.6.  
To repeat, do
   wget
http://download.microsoft.com/download/platformsdk/wmi9x/1.5/W9X/EN-US/wmi9x...
   winetricks win98
   WINEDLLOVERRIDES=wbemprox,wmiutils=n,b wine wmi9x.exe
(You can run unattended with /S, doesn't affect the crash.)

aborting

The installer still says it finishes ok.
It's not a showstopper, but it still seems like a bug.
