Summary: World of Warcraft crashing after being at the bank, AH, etc. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.29 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: viktor.metal@hotmail.com
Created an attachment (id=23669) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=23669) Backtrace from the WoW-crash
The problem is regarding World of Warcraft crashes. Now. It ONLY crashes after I've been to the bank, Class trainer, Auction house or Riding skill trainer In-game. And not WHILE I'm doing these things but AFTERWARDS when I'm finished and start moving away from them. That's when the crash occurs. *I've been able to recreate it on several occassions*
Here is another funny thing. If I. While I stand with e.g. the Auction house tab open and then zoom in to first-person view before closing it down *Or before i start moving at least* Then the crash does not occur. Strange I know.
I have the latest version of Wine; 1.1.29
And I run it on Ubuntu Linux Jaunty Jackalope.
Posting an Attachment with the Backtrace from the debugger.
Would be grateful for any help.

--- Comment #1 from Sven septim.dt@gmail.com 2009-09-20 06:23:04 --- There is another bug report about WoW crashing here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19719
Their solution was to remove <WoWGameDir>\Data\patch-a.mpg. Maybe this helps for you too.

Yeah I saw that solution. And I tried it out. But that "patch-a.mpg" file didn't even exist in the specified directory...Nor in any other directory. So I couldn't remove it since it wasn't there. =(

--- Comment #4 from blc blc+wine@mail.vanade.com 2010-02-06 20:46:16 --- I also see this behavior for several versions.
Here's another piece of data I think may be relevant: I see this happening much more often with the add-on "Altoholic" (think there's a copy on curse-gaming) which does read in mail/guild bank/bank/auction house information. The add-on is supposedly all interpreted LUA so the triggering code should be in WoW itself. This does not crash Windows however.
I have not really beat on this without this mod, as I find this mod quite important to managing my alts, but I think I tried it once without this add-on and it won't crash... anyone else see this happening without mods loaded?
The way I can reliably trigger this issue is have the mod loaded, open up the bank/Auctionhouse/guildbank window and then *walk away* from the resource. In a working system it should auto-close when you're too far to interact, but Wine will crash.
Workaround I've found so far is to manually close the window before walking away from the resource. It tends to not crash when you do this (but sometimes it will still crash).

--- Comment #5 from blc blc+wine@mail.vanade.com 2010-04-27 10:25:49 --- Would like to mention that WoW patch 3.3.3 11723 *seems* to have mitigated this issue. This has always seemed to be a WoW bug rather than a Wine bug per se, just that to match Windows behavior would have been nice.
Anyone else see/still see this issue?
