Summary: appdb no way to edit vendor Product: WineHQ Apps Database Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: appdb-unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: a.hurst@shef.ac.uk
After submitting a new app (Utilities/VLtools) along with its vendor (Digifly), I realised I had no way to correct the error I made in the URL for the Vendor (missing http://) Should the user who submitted a new Vendor have the power to edit it?

--- Comment #1 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2008-11-08 05:26:13 --- Either that or some heuristic added to add http:// if the user forgets to include it. I've corrected the vendor URL.

--- Comment #2 from Andrew Charles Hurst a.hurst@shef.ac.uk 2008-11-09 08:12:20 --- Thanks Jeff I think there are too many ways a URL can be wrong to correct them ourselves, including the simple case of miss spelling!
If a vendor entry in the DB includes which user submitted it, just needs the form creation and processing in vendor.php. Should be little more complicated than url.php. Perhaps one should have the option to delete a vendor as well?

--- Comment #4 from Alexander Nicolaysen Sørnes alex@thehandofagony.com 2009-07-19 06:47:30 --- It is possible to edit the vendor while the app is still queued. I guess we could also make it possible for app maintainers to edit the vendor of the app they are maintaining.

--- Comment #6 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- As noted in comment 4, the user who submitted the app with a new vendor can already edit the vendor information while the app is still queued.
Regarding the suggestion that maintainers be allowed to edit vendors of the apps they maintain, that would give them the power to make changes that affect entries other than the one(s) they maintain, which would be inappropriate. That kind of global authority is reserved for admins.
AppDB housekeeping problems such as this can now be reported on https://forum.winehq.org/viewforum.php?f=11; it is not necessary to file a bug.
Marking WONTFIX.
