Bug #: 32542 Summary: Option or Radio buttons don't work in Chessmaster 9000 Product: Wine Version: 1.5.20 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ballkontrol@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Option button/Radio button behavior doesn't work well in Chessmaster 9000 under Wine. Setting mutually exclusive sound or board preferences cannot be done via the user interface. Likewise, changing tutorial contents to switch between games and drills etc. cannot be done in the Classroom view since clicking the relevant buttons has no effect. In both cases, multiple buttons will appear to be selected even though they should be mutually exclusive (selecting one button should deselect any other button).

Trying to change tutorial topic by pressing the buttons fails. Tab content does not change, both option/radio buttons remain selected and can no longer be deselected. Pressing any other button will just select it too so you can end up with 3 or 4 selected buttons at the same time.

--- Comment #10 from Maik Wagner maiktapwagner@aol.com --- I tested the GOG version on wine 1.7.42. In the Sound preferences I can select the other options but the initial radio button is not being reset and it doesn't make sense to have something like "Simple Sounds" and "No Sound" at the same time.
With regards to this I would like to confirm this bug.

--- Comment #16 from winetest@luukku.com --- Bug 42010 has a patch it would be good if someone could test it over here. I was about to test this bug, but my wine doesn't see pulseaudio development files as installed and I have no pulseaudio support working and this program refuses to start because no audio available.

Not a Wine/Linux programmer but let me know if there's a link to the Wine source with that patch included, I can compile it and test it on a Linux box here.

Well if you can set build enviroment you just git pull wine source (wine faq for quidance). And the add the patch like this patch -p1 <nameofthepatch.patch. And then just make -j numberofcores on cpu. Setting build enviroment is the hardest thing.

Sounds duplicate then, but other versions of Chessmaster werent tested, but would think they use similar code in their products.

Agreed. 42010 is probably a duplicate of this one. Chessmaster's newer versions (10 and 11) are similar. I had a copy of CM10 demo and CM11 somewhere, I'll try testing them both when I get a chance.
