When you hit enter or press the Right Icon nothing happens - messages aren't sent as if Skype ignores you.

Here is the console output from Skype 7.8 with Wine 1.7.55 with Gallium Nine (note: I had to do a clean installation so I don't know if that affected anything).
Strangely, as of this version I'm able to message others in the Windows client now. I can also check if this works in Skype 7.10, 7.12, and 7.13 if needed (I think these are the versions I have access to).
No native override to richedit was required, just wininet and ie8 (I also had gdiplus and vcrun2005-2010 installed if that helps).
