Summary: Final Fantasy XIV beta: low frame rate Product: Wine Version: 1.3.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
Once past bug 24358 and bug 24375, the next problem is slow frame rate; I'm seeing 7-8 fps in the first part (where the player materializes in some sort of lobby that looks like a bar), and 10-11 fps after you accept an assignment, get past the cut scene, and are thrown into the game proper.
This is on an e8400 with an nvidia gt 220 (yeah, not a fast card, but still). I'll measure framerate on same hardware in vista next.

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2010-09-12 19:45:01 CDT --- Framerate in character editor before you enter the game is 60 in Windows, 40-55 in Wine.
Framerate in game (regardless of whether you're in the pub in the bowels of the boat or actually battling the floating jellyfish) in Windows is 24 (looking at center of boat) to 60 (looking at sky), and in Wine, it's about 9 (looking at center of bot) to 14 (looking at sky).
So Wine is about 2.5 times slower in the main game.

--- Comment #2 from Randy cinco_flare@hotmail.com 2010-09-12 23:37:22 CDT --- The Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark program suffers as well. Bug 23508. It would probably be easier to use that program to test. Though this beta may be updated from the benchmark, probably if a fix is found for the benchmark, it will work in the beta.

Is this still an issue in wine version 1.6-rc4 or higher or is this to be closed as abandoned ?
