In Personal Stock Monitor (see URL for download), if one hovers over a truncated entry a tooltip pops up, but there is no visible text on it.

Can you give a screenshot of an example? It seems to work fine in git.

Here is a screenshot of the problem. Although not apparent, the mouse cursor was visible over the white tooltip rectangle when I took it, but got hidden by the screen-capture utility.

I can confirm this on current wine-1.1.31-272-g8c743cb, actually I can't see the same News Headlines tab, but problem can't be seen on other listviews too.

This program produces two types of tooltip: if one hovers over a stock symbol, the program shows the full name of the company in question, and that works fine: the text is visible; if one narrows the column until truncation of at least some of the symbols occurs and hovers over a truncated stock symbol, a second tooltip is then also displayed that is supposed to show the full (i.e., un-truncated) stock symbol text, in place; it is on this tooltip that the text is not visible.
(Note: Due to another, yet-to-be-reported, bug, PSM currently crashes immediately after a stock prices update. I believe the last version under which it is stable is wine-1.4.)
