WINEDEBUG=+module wine Garena.exe

When starting Warcraft from Garena (program for p2p LAN emulation) garena just
minimizes and does nothing.

Among lots of other messages in terminal there are lines:

err:module:attach_process_dlls "gdi32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"H:\Igre\WarcraftIII\war3.exe" failed, status c0000005

I attached a +module trace, which is proboably usles :P.

I can and will attach more traces if needed.

Garena click "Start Game" nothing happened

wine 1.1.5 (installed with Synaptic)
ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (amd 64??)

Still present in wine 1.1.8 and latest Garena (3.1 I think)

No matter what I do games just don't start.

If anyone is interested in fixing this and needs logs, please just ask.

try to do the following:

After starting Garena, go to Settings -> Game Settings, then under "Executable
Settings" change the "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\war3.exe" link to
"C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Frozen Throne.exe" then ok.. if it didn't
success, just do this step again, and you will be able to open warcraft throw
Garena.. but you will face the same 3 sec freeze..

Does not work for me.

What worked (once) was changing it to C:\Program Files\Warcraft
III\war3.exe. But when I tried to join a game I got a fatal exception.

Every time the game does not start the gdi32.dll error comes up.

Please can someone take an attention to this bug? Without garena it is near
impossible to play DotA with skilled players because most of them plays on
garena... International tournaments are played there for example...

With wine 1.21 Garena crashes when trying to launch the game. COnsole output -

Hello confirming for 1.1.22.

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection happens here to with warcraft from time to
time. But very rarely.

I found out something interesting today. With vanilla wine compiled by me I get
gdi32.dll errors. BUT as soon as I compile wine with --disable-win16 i get
different error:

with --disable-win16:
err:module:attach_process_dlls "user32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"Z:\home\matej\Igre\Warcraft III\war3.exe" failed, status c0000005

vanilla wine:
err:module:attach_process_dlls "gdi32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"Z:\home\matej\Igre\Warcraft III\war3.exe" failed, status c0000005

Why do win16 binaries have any affect with 32bit applications is beyond my
knowledge. But I hope someone else will know what's happening here.

I also tried some of the other games garena supports. All with the same
problem. Dlls can't initialize. gdi32 with win16 and user32 without win16.

Games I tried: Warcraft 3, Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike_Source and
KillingFloor.

Don't use '--disable-win16' (or any other configure flags) if you don't know

I have the same problem with garena ... After patching wine 1.1.18 with the
acceptEx garena starts. GarenaTV starts but when I start war3 in some room from
garena nothing happens...

I have had this problem before where Garena is not able to start War3 properly
at all, not even to the main screen. And since (I assume) War3 does not try to
do any network stuff until you click on the LAN game button, I suspect this is
not the same as the 16047.

Though I could not reproduce this problem anymore, either because of a newer
wine, or a newer Garena.
