Summary: Armed Assault (ArmA) doesn't render any 3D graphics Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ben@atomnet.co.uk
Created an attachment (id=13933) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13933) Entire log minus 40000 duplicate lines.
The game fails to display any of the in-game graphics whether it's on the menu or inside the game itself. It still renders the HUD and Menu's themselves, but not the actual 3D game graphics. It spits out the errors (the ones which appear many times in the attached log) about 5000 times a second.

--- Comment #1 from Ben Hodgetts (Enverex) ben@atomnet.co.uk 2008-06-11 18:48:25 --- Created an attachment (id=13934) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13934) Screenshot of the menu with no rendered graphics
Note that using FBO doesn't help, only difference is the addition of this message: fixme:d3d_draw:depth_copy Not supported with fixed up depth stencil Instead of the message that says something about "repeated 20 times".

--- Comment #33 from Paul Gofman gofmanp@gmail.com --- I've tested the ArmA Gold Edition from Steam. After working around Bug #38086 (using native d3dx9_31) I could reproduce the issue.
It works fine in current git Staging though. It wants https://github.com/wine-staging/wine-staging/blob/master/patches/d3d9-Direct.... The patch is not in the released Staging yet (should appear in 4.21).
So this bug is a duplicate of Bug #46735.
I can guess that the requirement for shader validator interface has something to do with D3DX fragment linker which the game is using from d3dx9_31.

I guess the number of comments in the bug record is not a good metric for bug documentation quality. IMO it worth keeping the bug which has the most clear description, relevant discussion and attachments. Bug #46735 is obviously more relevant in this sense and is referenced by Staging patchset.
Not exactly related, but 46735 was split off from Bug #8051 which is older.
