This bug is about the d3dx9_36 dependency. Look at the Appdb page for all the dependencies the game has. If you still hit that after filling all dependencies, file a new bug with the problem and mention all the steps you did, including the installation of overrides.

Confirming, except I did not get page faults. Stubs for the functions makes the game display black screen.
