Summary: Supreme Commander 2 Demo: Rendering artifacts Product: Wine Version: 1.2-rc7 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: eg.galano@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=29493) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29493) Supreme Commander 2 Graphic Bug
As reported on the game's AppDB entry, the game has some rendering artifacts that require some workarounds to remove.
Attached a screenshot of one of the graphic errors but there is also another error when scrolling the world view which was hard to get a screenshot of.
To get rid of the artifacts do the following: - winetricks orm=backbuffer multisamping=enabled - nvidia-xconfig --no-dynamic-twinview
If you would like to duplicate, the demo is downloadable via steam.

--- Comment #1 from Patrick McFarland diablod3@gmail.com 2010-11-29 10:09:44 CST --- I am on fglrx 10.10 and wine 1.3.8, and supcom2 does not experience the rendering problems shown in your screenshot (however it still contains one: it renders upside-down, but the UI is rendered oriented correctly).
I did not require backbuffer rendering or multisampling enabled, it worked out of the box.

--- Comment #2 from Patrick McFarland diablod3@gmail.com 2010-11-29 10:41:22 CST --- Sorry. Turning multisampling on causes the rendering to flip, turning it off fixes this. I thought I had it off to begin with.

--- Comment #3 from Xavier Vachon xvachon@gmail.com 2010-12-01 12:17:56 CST --- I think this is an issue related to ATI graphic cards, because in git, an nvidia card and a d3dx9_36 override (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25376) I do not experience this. If someone else with a Nvidia card can confirm, the title should be updated accordingly.

--- Comment #4 from Patrick McFarland diablod3@gmail.com 2010-12-01 16:01:36 CST --- There are no ATI bugs currently in SupCom2. I just played through the entire single player campaign, and there were no rendering bugs that I noticed.
Unless the submitter can confirm he still has this bug on nvidia hardware, I suspect it can be closed as fixed.

Flickering seems like a different problem than EG reported?
Correct. I never saw flickering it was black textures like those in the screenshot I posted.

--- Comment #8 from Benjamin Hodgetts ben@xnode.org 2011-06-27 20:40:02 CDT --- It probably depends on the card.
My desktop (4850) looks fine on the menu and for the most part in-game looks ok apart from weird random shards of black that look like they are related to texture filtering.
My netbook (6310) on the other hand displays mostly black for the menu and most of the GUI is missing in game.
Neither look like the screenshot attached to this bug though.

I can't reproduce this with the free Steam demo, the in-game graphics is fine. Resolving 'fixed'.
