--- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com 2010-01-02 05:50:55 --- A couple of questions:
- is there a compositing manager enabled? - are you using native comctl32? - does native riched20 help?
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21226
--- Comment #2 from Sasha Medvedev Sasha.Medvedev@gmail.com 2010-01-02 07:27:03 --- Enabling/disabling xfce4 composite manager doesn't affect. Native riched20 doesn't help. I use only native mfc42.dll. Should I try install native comctl32? I test with 1.1.26 - installs and work fine. I will try to fined from which version bug starts.

Ok. You may use it as good version to start 'git bisect'.

Hi Sasha, really installs fine? You did not hit bug 18959?
Anyway, looking in AppDB reveals "MetaEditor shows black squares" in 1.1.21 and same user filled bug 18530.
I can say from my testing, that all the following versions fails: * 1.1.25, 1.1.26, 1.1.27, 1.1.28, 1.1.35 and 1.1.35-364-g9dc584d
But you can easily workaround that by "winetricks corefonts". Consider Component: fonts

--- Comment #5 from Sasha Medvedev Sasha.Medvedev@gmail.com 2010-01-02 16:08:15 --- This is really font related thing. winetricks corefonts solve this. And I found that this thing is gentoo related. Since 1.1.30 gentoo wine ebuild have optional fontconfig useflag. If it is disabled wine doesn't recognize corefonts installed in system. Before 1.1.30 gentoo wine used system corefonts.
To Wylda: I really have installed metatrader with 1.1.26. But after some experements with versions now I can't install metatrader with 1.1.26, it hangs at the end. So it is some mystery here.

No this is not gentoo related. I have Debian Lenny i have same problem, i.e. i also need "winetricks corefonts", otherwise i also have black rows.
So i think, that proper state should be NEW and not RESOLVED INVALID.

Not gentoo related, but to work without winetricks you need install corefont package ( I think msttcorefonts in debian ) and compile wine --with-fontconfig. So I don't know to think that this is a bug or distro problem.

Yes & confirming. Tested under 1.3.34 and MT4 still shows the black rows. Steps to reproduce: 1. install Meta Trader v4 2. winetricks mfc42 3. wine MetaEditor.exe
The problem is fully solved by: * winetricks corefonts
