If that's the case, little can be done about it - such dialogs tend to be not resizable, so if the original decided to mix variable and fixed, it will fail one way or the other (other usually being truncated text).

Sorry for probably saying stupid things but I don't see any differences in fonts in Linux and Windows. They are antialiased slightly differently but other than that they look exactly the same.
Is this really font metrics incompatibility?
