Bug #: 33709 Summary: Skyrim: no sound after intro video Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: apfeifer95@yahoo.com Classification: Unclassified
Arch Linux Wine 1.5.31
Steam install of Skyrim
The game starts and seems to run normally, but there is no sound after the intro video. I have tried setting to XP and Windows 7 mode in winecfg but neither have resolved the problem. I also saw some people recommend installing DirectX via the installer that comes with the game. Unfortunately, the installer fails every time that I try. I also attempted to install the June 2010 DirectX Redistributable from the official Microsoft website. That one did not work either.

How do I list the terminal output for a game on steam without steam interfering?

Please attach the terminal output.
How do I list the terminal output for a game on steam without steam interfering?
It's not trivial, but it's pretty easy to tell what output is from steam, since it's similar for most games. Just attach the whole thing please.

Here's what I get by running Skyrim in terminal with:
wine '...\TESV.exe'

I've attached what I think you wanted to see -- if I'm wrong, please correct me.

I appended the output from within the directory. It does not appear to be any different. Am I doing something wrong here?

--- Comment #11 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- I picked up Skyrim on sale yesterday from Steam, and promptly ran into this issue. Did a little experimenting, and it turns out the problem only exists in a 64 bit wineprefix.
Confirming and adjusting summary.

--- Comment #14 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Retested Skyrim in a 64 bit wineprefix in 1.7.36, and sound is now working.
The OR hasn't been heard from in over 2 years, so I'm going to go ahead and mark this fixed.
