Summary: Steam Crashes when trying to install any game with GLX Error Product: Wine Version: 0.9.56. Platform: Other OS/Version: FreeBSD Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: kris@pcbsd.org
Using FBSD 6.3 Patched, and the latest Wine 0.9.56
Whenever you try to install a game via Steam in Wine, it immediately crashes with this error:
X Error of failed request: GLXBadDrawable Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent) Serial number of failed request: 217574 Current serial number in output stream: 217574
I'm pretty sure this isn't a driver problem, since it does it on a variety of systems, nvidia and intel based, which of course are on completely different drivers. I seem to recall this error occurring on Linux in the past as well, does anybody know what the fix for it was?

--- Comment #1 from Chuck Tilbury chuck@whistlemaker.com 2008-03-22 19:53:01 --- I also have this issue. Here is some more information:
FreeBSD v6.3 (DesktopBSD v1.6)
Wine v0.9.57 from the ports collection
Nvidia driver version 96.43.05
Nvidia card type Geforce 4 MX400
1.5G RAM, plenty 'o disk
Intel P4 ID = 0xf29 step = 9
I am seeing exactly the same failure when trying to install any game under steam. Steam seems OK and Gecko seems fine.

--- Comment #2 from Michael Kosarev russiane39@gmail.com 2008-04-13 01:21:15 --- Checked on 7.0-STABLE, wine 0.9.59, latest stable and latest beta nvidia closed source drivers - bug still present, steam is unusable.

--- Comment #4 from Michael Kosarev russiane39@gmail.com 2008-04-17 02:44:57 --- This is what Zander (nvidia driver developer) wrote: I was able to reproduce the problem on PC-BSD 1.5 (FreeBSD 6.3) today and found that X is running out of two different IPC resources; I was able to run `glxgears` and steam at the same time after adding these lines to /boot/loader.conf:
kern.ipc.shmseg=1024 kern.ipc.shmmni=1024
