The program FF8Config.exe that comes with a Final Fantasy 8 installation does
not work. The following is the output:

Problem is different in latest version. Nothing at all pops up when starting
either FF8 or FF8Config

This is still an issue. And to fix it you must set proper registry key in FF8
folder that points to your cdrom.

I confirm that in 1.1.38 this bug is still occurring

I have a nVidia 9300 GS, Ubuntu 9.10, any other details you might require?

this is all that shows up on mine :

nothing else after this, and this happens with the demo

Kind of works with wine 1.3.4 on MacOSX, when wine is configured to emulate a
virtual desktop.

As X11 is not the primary window manager on OSX, by switching between X11 and
another program -- whose window covers the X11 Wine window! --, FF8Config.exe 
updates the screen.

It works for me (wine 1.3.12, hd4330 fglrx 11.1) out of the box. (i have to
insert the gameplay disc)
