Summary: Igneous crashes when opened. Product: Wine Version: 1.3.24 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: nn.dm55@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=35514) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35514) This is the output of Igneous started using winedbg.
I started Igneous with 'wine Igneous.exe' in the game's folder. The game started but couldn't be played because it immediately crashed and a dialog opened saying: 'The program Igneous.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.' My DLL overrides: d3d9.dll (native) d3dx9_40 (native, builtin) Distribution: openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 My version of wine was installed with wine-1.3.24-1.1.x86_64.rpm from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_11.3/

--- Comment #1 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-07-11 08:44:08 CDT --- Igneous is a freeware indie game, can be downloaded here: http://www.igneousgame.com/IgneousDownload.html
I don't think that overriding d3d9.dll is a wise idea. Can you try the game in a clean wineprefix without overrides? Also, don't start the game inside winedbg, attach the plain terminal output instead, just as advised here: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-a37de3282d447376d2220d20a278ae52258551a4
The game runs without issues here, using a Nvidia gfx card and Wine-1.3.24.

No overrides were used in the making of this attachment.
The game starts without issues here as well, and in fact runs great. Must be somehow a problem on your side. The game bundles it's own d3dx9_40. When I set that to builtin, i get a bunch of errors and the games crashes.
So even if we can't reproduce the crash from Nathan, there are still bugs to be fixed

--- Comment #5 from Nathan nn.dm55@gmail.com 2012-03-12 17:59:02 CDT --- I just tried Igneous again, but it crashed. I then removed all overrides defined in winecfg, and started it again. Then it finally worked without crashing. My wine version now is 1.4
