Bug ID: 47364 Summary: COM ports do not work Product: Wine Version: 4.9 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wineserver Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: rick@tripletry.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 64703 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=64703 program run with com debugging.
Regression: Since the last update on Fedora 29 to wine 4.9 the com ports no longer work. I have the registry entry for ttyUSB2 linked and it stopped working after the last update. The program is PUTTY.EXE but other programs also do not work such as winlink-express. The message from putty is "end of file reading from serial device"

--- Comment #1 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Can you do a regression test to find out which commit broke it?
How do you know "wineserver" is to blame here?

--- Comment #2 from Rick Stanback rick@tripletry.com --- I know it worked fine in wine 4.8 but not much more than that. I am not sure if the problem is wineserver as I don't really know where the com port code is.
I can try and go back to wine4.8? I don't really build wine from source so not sure how to do that level of regression. I could try to build a newer version if there is one?

--- Comment #3 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- Well, the most useful would be a regression test. When it's between 4.8 and 4.9 only that would help. Or instructions on how to reproduce the bug.

--- Comment #4 from Rick Stanback rick@tripletry.com --- to reproduce the problem download putty from the internet and run via wine putty configure a serial port and try to open the connection.
UPdate: I built the latest GIT build wine-4.10-154-gc674ceefe1 and it appears to be working now.
I am not sure how to do the regression testing to see which patch caused the problem. I have not decide if I want to install this build or just wait til the next update from fedora repo.

--- Comment #5 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- When it works now, there's no need for a regression test, I'd just wait for the next build (and maybe in the meantime downgrade).
