Bug ID: 35615 Summary: Robin Hood Legend of Sherwood: Missing UI elements and invisible cursor in-game Product: Wine Version: 1.7.12 Hardware: x86 OS: Windows Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: devilhood@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
During gameplay, parts of the UI are either invisible or black, and the mouse cursor is partly invisible.
Windows 8 users can only play this game using WineD3D. Without WineD3D it lags to an unplayable degree. No other fixes are available and support has been abandoned for this title.

--- Comment #1 from Maik Wagner maiktapwagner@aol.com --- Created attachment 49136 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49136 Robin Hood Console Output
There is a demo version available from: http://www.spellbound.de/front_content.php?idcat=17&sblinkid=20
Unfortunately when installing the demo it requires "a newer version of DirectX".

I think I see this, but without a screenshot on windows to compare, I'm not sure. The bottom part of the UI is mostly black, and I see outlines of what looks like buttons for the UI.

Have you tested this under wine at all? Or only on windows with wined3d?
The installer from http://www.spellbound.de/files/demos/Robin_Hood/Demo2/Setup_us.exe
austin@aw25 ~ $ sha1sum Setup_us.exe 13dca048143a64de18f85638c77a246c8561b880 Setup_us.exe austin@aw25 ~ $ du -h Setup_us.exe 81M Setup_us.exe austin@aw25 ~ $ wine --version wine-1.7.23
installs and runs without a problem for me in 1.7.23. Your terminal output indicates a broken wineprefix (or you maybe set dmusic to native without copying one in).

--- Comment #3 from hanska2@luukku.com --- If this is fixed, then
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26875
should be fixed too.
The game gui looks the same so I assume its the same engine used.
I am still downloading the demo. Speed is quite bad.

--- Comment #4 from hanska2@luukku.com --- Well I tried this. Installs fine here.
There were few issues. The guards in the game were for some reason drawn as shadows, but in time they were completely rendered as should.
I think this misses some gui elements too as reported.

--- Comment #6 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- The shadows for the guards look like the same problem as in The longest journey.
It would be nice if someone could try the patches there to see if they solve the problem here
