Summary: Entropia.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close Product: Wine Version: 1.3.5 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: realwholename@yahoo.com
After running Entropia's Client Loader (which does the final step (settles the TOU) of Entropia's installation process), launching Entropia.exe gets "The program Entropia.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close".
I do have both d3dx9_34 and ie6 installed via winetricks.

--- Comment #2 from Andrew Cottrell realwholename@yahoo.com 2010-10-28 22:09:54 CDT --- This is for Entropia Universe (Planet Calypso) as installed by entropia_universe_setup_11.3.6.59947 (the current version), installed via CD set of 3-day-old download.
I didn't run it via any terminal. I launched it by doubleclicking it in PCMan File Manager.
The game is free from its publisher at http://www.planetcalypso.com/download/
Installation instructions: winetricks d3dx9_34.dll; Download Entropia(aka Planet Calypso) into Program Files/Entropia Universe; Run entropia_universe_setup_11.3.6.59947.exe; Run Program Files/Entropia Universe/bin32/ClientLoader.exe (finishes the installation); Run Program Files/Entropia Universe/bin32/Entropia.exe (the actual game).

This is probably a duplicate of bug 14137.
That ends up being bug 18799, which is a WONTFIX, fyi.
Is this still a problem in current (1.7.16 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #6 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
since there is no recent feedback and issue went back and forth between multiple things it's safe to go for 'ABANDONED' here.
