Bug ID: 44376 Summary: Wine gives error massage while installing Battle.net Product: Wine Version: 2.21 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: mizobocigame@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 60290 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=60290 wine gives error while installing a file
When I try to install Battle.net-Setup.exe, gives me this error. This error massage appeared a few weeks ago and I tried a lot of work-arounds but nothing's changed. In playonlinux the installation goes to the login panel but there's another error: Battle.net Helper.exe encountered a serious problem.
Thanks for help (sorry for my bad english)
Linux Debian (Buster) Wine version: 2.0.4-1

--- Comment #1 from Matteo Bruni matteo.mystral@gmail.com --- I'm pretty sure the errors in the log don't matter for the crash you get. Please retest with current Wine (plain or staging, where the latter at this point should work better for the Battle.net desktop app).

--- Comment #2 from Mizo mizobocigame@gmail.com --- I think I'm using the newest wine for Debian Buster. Are there any newest wine version then 2.0.4-1? I saw 3.0 but I'm nut sure that this version is available on Buster.

I don't know if your distro makes newer Wine packages available. If not, check https://www.winehq.org/download to get a newer version.

--- Comment #4 from Mizo mizobocigame@gmail.com --- So this error is because of I don't use the latest wine version available? If that's all than I would be happy. I don't really know what this error massage means. Can anyone describe me?

--- Comment #9 from Linards linards.liepins@gmail.com --- Not seen such crashes straight after launching the game or battle.net client itself since wine-staging 6.x, but after longer gameplay or just having battle.net opened still such crashes occur.

--- Comment #13 from ravachol djeff.rx@gmail.com --- I found a solution for the issue of the new "Battle.net 14758" from March 2024! no idea how long it will work, but for now after several connections it works.... So there you have it, I tinkered a lot, tried lots of things, which didn't work....Yesterday I tried something that may seem simplistic, I put all the contents of the "Battle.net" folder in the trash. 14758" while keeping the folder, I replaced the contents with that of the old one which was still working, i.e. "Battle.net 14494" which I had carefully kept in a corner (which shows that keeping certain "old" folders can be useful. ..). When connecting, a small message appears offering to continue with the new version, I accepted, and Battle.net launches completely normally.... So here is a tip that works, for the moment in all cases smile If it can be useful to people.
