Bug #: 31340 Summary: Oblivion : black skin of all the npc's Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3dx9 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: alexander_l@bk.ru CC: wine-bugs@winehq.org Classification: Unclassified
The problem is just like here ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20074 ), but not only the skin of the main hero is black, but of all the npc's as well. Setting d3dx9_27.dll to native doesn't help. I can see the string fixme:d3d:resource_check_usage Unhandled usage flags 0x8 when playing the game.

--- Comment #1 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-07-28 09:09:09 CDT --- Comment 30 on that bug report also mentions that the nvidia opengl driver's antialiasing settings made a difference. What graphics card and driver are you using, and have you tried changing that setting?

--- Comment #4 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2012-08-10 06:44:33 CDT --- Not a d3dx9 bug. What's your driver version?
It might be a driver bug. Anyone with an ati or nvidia card and native d3dx9_27 will have to test it. But since native fixed it in bug 20074 , I doubt it's a bug in wine at all. But the reported versions there are pretty old. The slowness mentioned in comment 30 is probably an other problem.

Not a d3dx9 bug. What's your driver version?
I'm not sure if it is a driver component, but here it is: xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.20.3~precise~ppa1

--- Comment #6 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2012-08-25 05:15:22 CDT --- Using native d3dx9_27.dll, all NPCs look fine here with: OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV710 OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 8.0.3 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20
Could you please provide more information about your setup? Which card do you have? 'glxinfo | grep -i -E "direct|opengl"' may provide some useful information.

--- Comment #7 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2012-08-25 11:48:20 CDT --- Just tried it on the laptop with an intel gpu. The rest of the installation is 100% identical. With the intel card I could confirm, the npc has always a black skin.
OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Mobile OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 8.0.3 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20
