--- Comment #1 from Juan Lang juan_lang@yahoo.com 2008-05-22 14:55:22 --- Not a blocker, please read severity descriptions. Can you try with a more recent version of wine? Also, wine shouldn't have the ability to lock up your machine. This is much more likely to be a driver bug. Can you make sure your video drivers are up to date?

Does CTRL+ALT+BKSP return you to a shell? What video card/drivers?

--- Comment #3 from Bryan Christ bryan.christ@gmail.com 2008-05-22 15:36:18 --- no. i cannot restart X with ctrl+alt+bksp. i also cannot switch to a standard tty--mouse is locked, keyboard is locked.
the hardware is an HP Compaq dx5150 with integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200

Probably an ATI driver bug. File a bug with Fedora. You might try using vesa/vga driver as a workaround...

--- Comment #8 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-06-02 15:56:53 --- Hello,
looks like 2.6.25.x kernel bug not related to usual ATI/nvidia brain damage.
From my experience only wine triggers this one reliably - which makes Fedora 9
completely unsuitable for wine at this point. With native linux apps and daily work no hard lock is ever seen.
I tested it on 3 machines (completely different hardware), known to work with older 2.6.24 versions (FC8) and wine. Untainted 2.6.25.x kernel, no 3rd party modules.
Running test suite will trigger kernel hard lock randomly at any point. Any other wine usage can hard lock the kernel pretty fast (using winecfg, winetricks), sometimes it takes some minutes. No serious work possible.
Other duplicates (some of them incorrectly mix the kernel hard lock issue with page zero lockdown feature which has nothing to do with it)

--- Comment #9 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net 2008-06-06 18:36:53 --- Hello,
I added some kernel oopsies, captured via serial console: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=308578
to: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443552
That utrace bug still exists with latest update 2.6.25.4-30.fc9.i686 and wine-1.0-rc4
As of now, Fedora 9 is a bad choice for running wine...

--- Comment #10 from Benny mail2benny@gmail.com 2008-06-13 02:59:35 --- Bug should be fixed with the new kernel-release:
"kernel-2.6.25.6-55.fc9 has been pushed to the Fedora 9 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report."
Please do make a bug report here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443552 and NOT at bugs.winehq.org since this is NOT a wine bug.
