To be more specific, the color palette is scrambled when the video starts.
I can confirm this. The whole screen gets corrupted. I also noticed people on the ubuntu forum experiencing it. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=823728
The behavior cannot be captured in screen capture software. The images come out normal looking.
I have used the player flawlessly before in wine before so this might be a regression.

--- Comment #6 from Jack Deslippe jdeslip@berkeley.edu 2008-09-11 14:08:41 --- I can confirm this on version 1.1.4 - When I run the player at espn360.com my screen looks like it has been doing LSD... The sound comes in fine, and you can sorta see the video moving.
Since, we are in the midst of college football season, espn360 is the app I would most like to use in wine. Are any devs working on this?

--- Comment #8 from Taylor tw03d@fsu.edu 2008-12-14 12:51:46 --- I don't think this is a regression as I encounter the same problem on .9.47. I think the media player upgraded itself and the newer media player is the culprit. Move says a linux version is in the works, but for now maybe someone can look into this?

I'm not optimistic this is likely to get fixed anytime soon. We're selling a Linux based Internet TV box, and this is a kind of blocker bug for us. If anyone has any insight on what it would take to get this fixed, I would love to hear from you (jborn at neurostechnology.com). BTW, the product is the Neuros LINK: http://www.neurostechnology.com/neuros-link
We can't even get a meeting with move on this subject and we're a potential customer!

Wine is a volunteer project, not a commercial one. If you need paid support, I suggest you contact Codeweavers, who offers paid support for wine (http://www.codeweavers.com).

What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |dwb7@cornell.edu
--- Comment #16 from Dave B dwb7@cornell.edu 2009-10-24 00:15:06 --- I wanted to confirm this being very broken in Fedora 11 x86_64. Looks like we have version 1.1.29 of wine here.
Installed firefox and flash in wine, and then went to the NFL Game Rewind site which d/l'ed and installed Move. Upon restarting firefox, almost immediately, the graphics of the whole X display corrupt. The color palette is corrupted (reminds me of back in the old days when apps had to switch color palettes as one moved the mouse between them) -- that's how the color for the whole X display now looked. And, not only was the color palette very wrong, but any glyphs, lines, etc on the screen were a scrambled bunch of junk. It looked like the monitor or video card had gone bad.
Finally, after many restarts of X, firefox/wine/move delayed screwing up the graphics long enough for me to get into the add-ons dialog and disable MOVE.
Also, running the NVidia binary driver -- one of the 190 series for my 9800GTX.
Phenom II processor.

--- Comment #17 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2011-07-08 19:33:20 CDT --- Is this still an issue for anyone? ABC now uses Flash, the player is no longer offered for download on the Move website, and bug 16899 was closed as abandoned because no one could find a site that uses it any more. I suggest we do the same with this bug.
