Bug ID: 43772 Summary: Witcher 3 not starting (anymore) Product: Wine Version: 2.17 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: wine-devel@hurrikhan.eu Distribution: ---
Created attachment 59275 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=59275 full log
With version 2.14, I was able to start and play "The Witcher 3". With version 2.17 I cannot anymore. Looking at the logs, the only message that seems to matter is about GL implementation not accepting 4 component specular colors. I'm attaching both the full log and my glxinfo output.

Are you using partially patched Wine, or staging Wine?
I've tried wine-staging, then wine from Arch/Manjaro.
Right now I'm on 'multilib/wine 2.17-1 [installed]'

Do you have OpenGL version set in the registry? If yes, try removing it, or the other way around.

Do you have OpenGL version set in the registry? If yes, try removing it, or the other way around.
I had OpenGL set for max version 4.5 (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D) I tried removing Direct3D : the specular error disappeared but the game still didn't started. I tried adding it again set for 4.6, the specular error came back and no start.
So I guess this was not the root cause.

--- Comment #6 from wine-devel@hurrikhan.eu --- I've tried to start the game from the command line, hoping to see a message printed on the prompt or something. Instead, the game started.
So if I do: (Like I have done for months)
env WINEDEBUG=-all WINEPREFIX="/opt/games/wine/gog64" /usr/bin/wine "C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin\x64\witcher3.exe"
It does not work.
If I do: env WINEDEBUG=-all WINEPREFIX="/opt/games/wine/gog64" /usr/bin/wine cmd c: cd c:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin\x64 witcher3.exe
It does.
Their respective console output are a bit different. I'm attaching them.

--- Comment #9 from Shmerl shtetldik@gmail.com --- It's not a bug then. I always had to cd to the working directory first when running the game from some script. You can close this I suppose.
