Summary: GPGNet starts but crashes after Login. Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: PC URL: http://thevault.gaspowered.com/gpgnetdownload/GPGnetSetu p.1.5.177.zip OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: nils.krabshuis@redwood.com
Installing GPGNet goes fine, starting it shows the login window, allows you to fill in your credentials and continue. The main window will appear (graphics look distorted), a second window will appear showing a progress bar. At this point it either hangs, or crashes.
Without this utility it is impossible to play online games with Supreme Commander.

Using wine 1.0-rc2, install dotnet20, gecko (it will prompt for this if you dont have it), and optionally "fontfix" using the latest "winetricks" (http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks).

--- Comment #12 from Nils Krabshuis nils.krabshuis@redwood.com 2008-10-04 04:56:13 --- The initial post of the bug is still valid though, GPGNet being unable to run. Even though the 'patch' "fixes" the download (partially, installing the update won't finish properly), running GPGNet still doesn't work.
The main window will appear, but no content on it.

--- Comment #14 from Night Nord NightNord@gmail.com 2008-10-04 09:00:43 --- GPGNet starts, logins normally and works - it downloads new patches and successfully applies them. Only problem - wine's version of "copy" asks for overwriting file profanity.gpg in infinite loop. Just delete it and everything will be ok =). Or just wineserver -k, remove file and restart: patching will be successfull and without this action.
If you want to reopen bug - maybe it will be better to change the summary? Imho, missing content - it is another bug.
For me, GPGNet does it's main work - updates, game itself still isn't ready for mass network, it is too laggy and unstable. It's better to wait for platinum/gold SupCom, before trying to play online, imho. Maybe .NET/mono will be already in good shape too =)
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13507
--- Comment #15 from Nils Krabshuis nils.krabshuis@redwood.com 2008-10-04 10:58:27 --- NightNord: I agree with what you are saying, but this doesn't take away the fact that the initial post (about GPGNet not working properly) is still valid.
Starting up GPGNet works, updating works (with the workaround mentioned), but the main GPGNet window still doesn't show any content.
Whether Supco is stable/playable with it is not really the point here, GPGNet itself just isn't functional as it is, and these days it's not only used for Supco but also for Space Siege and in the very near future Demigod is going to make use of this interface as well.

Ok, this is your bug, but... This violates bug traking system, and bug-closing statistics on releases. It is better to make new bug, due to summary change. Summary must be changed anyway - many users searches bugs by it.
Suspicious fact - it looks like that main window actually renders all it's contents (some flashes, parts of border etc), but then loads Gecko engine and everything cloacks under it - only empty banner space remains.
Traces at end of log - this is termination by ctrl+c, due to impossibility to end program normally.

This is screenshot of empty window. Note, that login dialog renders it's borders and contents ideally. As I said before, looks like that main window also tries to render them, but then they dissapears for some reason.

Nope. The end result the same - only "banner place" now white and doesn't respond on right-click. But now i'm completelly sure, that main window renders it's contents - I even catched this moment on screenshot.
Intresting, that before "cloaking" window dissapears completelly for some time, and then creates a new(?) window with empty contents.

--- Comment #23 from Louis Lenders xerox_xerox2000@yahoo.co.uk 2008-10-05 07:20:47 --- you can't use native shdocvw standalone, as it depends on native shlwapi as well (see your crash). You might be lucky using the following quartet as native: shdocvw, shlwapi, urlmon and mshtml

Adding shlwapi to native crashes GPGNet. I have all this libs (mshtml/shdocvw/shlwapi/urlmon) in windows/system32, but i'm not sure about their source. Anyway - with this shlwapi in native even winecfg not starts, so i'm using libs from dllfiles. Adding/removing urlmon from native do nothing.
