After upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6 I can't minimize Pegasus Mail. When I click minimize the window only flashes, seems like it minimizes but immediately restores to open window with the same size as before.

No error messages in console.

git bisect suggests it may be related to commit 6b04bdf25796c9c76815588bf7bdc36ff44b9e13

OS: XUbuntu 24.04.2 LTS NVIDIA Driver Version: 535.183.01 Using X11 (not Wayland)

Pegasus Mail Version 4.80 (as stated in the URL field of this issue).

Didn't uninstall IERenderer using the uninstall.exe. I removed the IERenderer files manually.

There are files in the PMAIL/Programs directory and subdirectories, and then some in users mail directory. Also some registry entries.

I had also just removed IER* files.

For me, I've also removed the older BEARHTML files in Pegasus, since it was an other addon used for HTML messages, but the Main TER32 and HTS32 dll files were updated and seem to do better job with HTML messages.

The public beta 3 has been out since 2023, and is very stable, but from Beta team, there have been a number of private betas since then, and the new 4.91 is close to being released?

I do have a major issue with winehq-devel 10.10 that breaks Pegasus. It opens, but windows/panels are not displaying correctly or empty. Downgrade to 10.9 works fine. Also works fine with stable, but that is 10.0?

Think IERenderer is making some calls to IE dlls that wine doesn't support, but author is lookin at making a new version that uses chromium calls instead of IE8, but that might kill working on Windows 7 and lower.

I've used Pegasus since the old DOS days with Novell 2.x servers.

What desktop manager are you using?

How are you starting Pegasus. Menu or Desktop icon or other.

Might try opening a terminal window, and run program a terminal window $ cd ~/.wine/drive_c/PMAIL/Programs $ wine WINPM-32.EXE

Then try the minimize option, and then open the terminal window and see it any messages are displayed.

I use the following option on mine. WINEDEBUG=fixme-all,err+all

Might want to try WINEDEBUG=+all

But that generally makes a very large amount of output.

A 2nd option. I generally have XFCE setup for 4 workspaces. Rather than minimizing the Pegasus Mail, perhaps clicking on top bar, and move it to a separate workspace, then switch back and forth between the workspaces.

One thing I found was alt enter was suppose to minimize, but for me it does nothing??

--- Comment #11 from Rémi Bernon rbernon@codeweavers.com --- I'm not able to reproduce minimization failures, but I'm able to reproduce a possibly similar issue when Pegasus Mail is first started, and another window is activated by clicking on it. The first time this is done after startup, Pegasus Mail window gets activated again instead of the window that was clicked on.

This seem to happen because Pegasus Mail calls SetFocus quickly after losing foreground (from a WM_USER+8991 application message posted when it receives WM_KILLFOCUS), which we translate into window activation request and the window manager. I've checked that on Windows the WM_USER+8991 is there too, I'm not sure whether it then calls SetFocus or not, and whether Windows is simply ignoring it. This will need some testing.

Then, this is possible the same thing happening with minimization here, although it's not 100% certain. The logs also seem to suggest that there's NtUserSetFocus calls right after the window is being minimized.

To see if this is only about Pegasus Mail I downloaded Notepad++ from https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/v8.8.2/ (32-bit version, portable) Unzipped and ran like wine ./notepad++.exe Notepad++ minimizes fine, and restores fine.

Now to the interesting part. While Notepad++ is running, I can minimize Pegasus mail fine. And maybe most spectacular: If Pegasus Mail is minimized and I quit Notepad++, Pegasus Mail is restored!

However, it seems like the next mouseclick is "stolen" and Pegasus is restored. I say "stolen" as I would expect a mouseclick in another windows should set focus to that window, now it only restores Pegasus.

On one hand it seems to open faster rather than seeing he icons drawing across screen, which is good. But it does seem to be loosing focus on window, and have to reclick on Pegasus Window to get mouse and keyboard entries to work.

Also, notice the bottom panel (xfce) is showing up, like mouse is over it, but nouse is no where near that area.

So, don't think this is directly related to earlier post??

Only had 4 new messages, and was able to delete 3 messages with no issue, so looks like it has been fixed. But was only a small test. Generally would have 40 to 100 new messages in the morning. So will check there, but looks good.

Will have to look at chagnes made in 10.19, and perhaps one will stand out.

#57569 BeamNG.drive minimizes its window during startup, with UseTakeFocus set to false.

There is one that list Pegasus, but I never noticed that issue.

#58431 Pegasus Mail Changed font (regression)

I generally do always run Pegasus in Full screen mode, and as I stated it would work the first time with the delete key, and then require click on actual delete button with mouse.

Might have been one of the others that fixed it, but those seem to be most likely to me. Thanks.

Unfortunately yes. Sort of. The Pegasus windows IS minimized and NOT immediately restored. But it is restored immediately when clicking any other window to set focus to that window.

Not sure if it was this latest thing.

Was issue with losing focus with window when useing delete key. WOuld work first time, but then no response. Then had to use mouse to click on delete button. Now with 10.19, if works like it did before.
