Summary: Graphics regression Product: Wine Version: 0.9.54. Platform: Other URL: http://www.introversion.co.uk/laughingman/ OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-ddraw AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: spzakulec@mail.widener.edu
When I try to play the Uplink Laughing Man demo, it has many graphical glitches, including one which makes it impossible to get past the second screen, which I can only quit by using Alt-F4 or wineserver -k. I had reported a similiar, but not nearly as bad issue as 4889.
I'd really like to provide screenshots, but I don't know how to get screenshots from a full screen app.
The graphics (non-buttons) seem to be cut in half. The buttons are much worse off. The first button on the first screen you see is visible- but to click it, you have to go up to the third sentence of text- then the button is highlighted and can be clicked. It can also be pushed by using the enter key.
On the second screen, the buttons are not there: there should be two buttons identical to those of the previous screen, but they are not there, and so you can not proceed any further in the demo.
I'm not sure what logging needs to be done, and the only thing that shows on the console is this: err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 800x600x0 @0! (XRandR)
I'm running Kubuntu 7.10 and Wine 0.9.54

--- Comment #1 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffzaroyko@gmail.com 2008-02-14 15:43:02 --- If you can compile from source please perform regression testing as described here http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
You should be able to take a screenshot using the print screen key on your keyboard - when I do this, in gnome a "save screenshot" dialog pops up. If this doesn't work for you in full screen, consider configuring a virtual desktop using winecfg.
Please report bugs after testing on the latest version of wine, current wine-0.9.55.

The half-broken graphics. The buttons are there.

This is the second screen. It's clear where the buttons should be, but as the screenshot shows, they aren't there.

--- Comment #5 from Steven Zakulec spzakulec@mail.widener.edu 2008-02-20 07:08:24 --- I've started the regression testing- all the graphics are fine as of wine-0.9.25-188-g18db607, but everything else is broken. Between then and 0.9.35, the graphics got really broken.

--- Comment #8 from Steven Zakulec spzakulec@mail.widener.edu 2008-03-05 19:43:35 --- I upgraded to the new release 0.9.56, and the visible graphics glitches are all gone. The other problem with not being able to click the buttons is still there- if you search around the screen, you can find the buttons location by seeing if the explanation text at the bottom of the screen shows up.
