With no native libraries, the installer puts up its normal "preparing installer" dialogs, then a nearly-blank dialog containing just an elipsis. "winetricks ie6" works around the problem.

The license text is shown with no overrides used (this bug), but the installer is missing some content, like a background picture. Also the next button does't seem to work even accepting the license.
these issues are solved with winetricks -q ie8
