Bug #: 30206 Summary: Doom Builder 2: fails to initialize graphics when opening a map Product: Wine Version: 1.4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jamie@superjamie.net Classification: Unclassified
Doom Builder 2 is a .Net 2.0 application which used to work fairly well in Wine 1.3.36 and .37 * http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=12221
Now with 1.4, the app still installs fine (after winetricks dotnet20) however opening a map displays an error "Unable to initialize Direct3D video device" and the following terminal output:
err:d3d:context_create wglSwapIntervalEXT failed to set swap interval 0 for context 0x200cc8, last error 0x591
If you need a wadfile to test, you can get one from the GPL-licensed Freedoom. * http://www.nongnu.org/freedoom/

--- Comment #1 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2012-03-18 03:59:59 CDT --- If the application used to worked with a previous Wine version, please perform a regression test: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
I can't reproduce the problem here, tested with Wine-1.4 and 1.5.0 (+winetricks dotnet20).

--- Comment #2 from superjamie jamie@superjamie.net 2012-03-19 01:57:42 CDT --- Right you are. I get the error on my desktop with ATI graphics. I tried on my laptop with Intel graphics and it works fine.
Let me know if you still want that regression test, but I am guessing this is an issue with the latest ATI driver rather than Wine.

You can find that out if you try the application with the previous (known-to-be-working) Wine version. If it fails then it is likely the driver update that's caused the problem. There's no point doing the regression test in that case.

--- Comment #4 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-11-07 06:13:51 CST --- Is this still an issue in the latest development version of wine (currently 1.5.16)?

--- Comment #5 from superjamie jamie@superjamie.net 2012-11-07 06:55:56 CST --- No, this particular issue is resolved.
The app still doesn't work perfectly, it never has, but the exact symptoms vary from version to version and it gets better with most releases.
I'll close this bug.
