Summary: ZDoom: distorted graphics rendering Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc2 Platform: PC-x86-64 URL: http://www.zdoom.org OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P5 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: aeichhorst@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=13376) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13376) Hall of Mirrors effect on textures
When running ZDoom, the graphics rendering produces a "hall of mirrors" effect on textures. This has no effect on gameplay, but is a big eyesore. Another graphical problem that occurs is a "pixel coloration-distortion" that imposes colors from one texture onto another. An example of this is when firing the BFG9000 in Doom the walls will retain pixels of the BFG's green energy ball color. This can be seen when pulling up the menu (hitting the Esc key) during gameplay. The menu's yellowish background-shade produces the effect quite well. I managed to get a screenshot of the "hall of mirrors" effect and is attached to this report.

The graphics card I'm using is a GeForce 8600 GTS with the version 169 drivers). I will attach a screenshot taken from ZDoom running under Windows XP.

--- Comment #5 from Aaron Eichhorst aeichhorst@gmail.com 2008-05-28 20:48:29 --- I've noticed that the "hall of mirrors" and color-distortion effetcs mainly (if not exclusively) on dark pixels (e.g. shades of gray/black, poorly lit areas, etc.)

--- Comment #8 from Alexander Korshun7@gmail.com 2009-10-12 12:21:05 --- Workaround for this bug:
open the zdoom console (~ key) and type the following command:
testfade 01

--- Comment #9 from Alexander Korshun7@gmail.com 2009-10-12 12:31:01 --- Also after testfade 01 you should type testfade 00, cause testfade 01 chages the light model, but fixes bug, so type testfade 01 and testfade 00 and the level will look exactly it would without this bug!!!

--- Comment #15 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com --- This problem is still present in wine 1.7.52, to test a demo version of Doom is required and ZDoom 2.3.1. Then extract the Doom demo and zdoom in the same folder, then run zdoom and find the way to the level exit door (IDDQD and IDKFA cheats may help). Strife in the front of the exit door to see the problem.
