Bug #: 29025 Summary: Riven prison elevator buttons inoperative Product: Wine Version: 1.3.32 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: cdbiem101@embarqmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 37373 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=37373 image of the elevator buttons
When you click on one of the buttons in the prison elevator it is supposed to make a noise and show a pressed button. Instead the button does nothing like it was not even pressed. I have verified the same in wine version 1.2.3 and 1.3.12.
The first attachment is an image of the buttons. The 3 lower round buttons are the ones that don't move. The upper lever works fine.
The Riven version I am using is from gog.com. I will purchase Riven for the developer who is willing to fix this bug (It is only $5.99).

--- Comment #2 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-11-07 21:20:11 CST --- The buttons do work here, tested with 1.3.32 and the gog.com version of Riven. Do other buttons, levers etc work in the game up until that scene? Is there anything suspicious in the terminal?

--- Comment #3 from Charlie cdbiem101@embarqmail.com 2011-11-08 06:45:29 CST --- Actually the game works quite well until this point. The only other thing that I noticed is sometimes the pages of the books you carry around turn 2 pages with a single mouse click.
I get no errors in the terminal when pressing the buttons.
Oh my, I didn't expect it to work fine for someone else.
Any idea what I can do to fix it?

Thanks

Could you please post the wine registry files to this bug report so I can see your settings?
I'm not sure how that would help you; there are no game specific entries in the registry. It's always a good idea to create a new wineprefix and reinstall the game to see if the problem is still reproducible after a clean install.
What version of windows do you have set in wine?
I have the default WinXp setting, but now I also tried everything from Win95 to Seven: the buttons did worked with any of these settings.

--- Comment #6 from Charlie cdbiem101@embarqmail.com 2011-11-12 10:16:03 CST --- I found the problem. It was with LXDE. When running in IceWM the elevator buttons work fine. Here is the output when running wine with export WINEDEBUG="+event":
Using lxde (buttons inop):
trace:event:call_event_handler 74 EnterNotify for hwnd/window 0x10042/3000007 trace:event:process_events processed 1 events trace:event:call_event_handler 74 ClientMessage for hwnd/window 0x10042/3000007 trace:event:handle_wm_protocols got take focus msg for 0x10042, enabled=trace:event:set_focus setting focus to 0x20026 (2a00001) time=695219 trace:eventrace:event:call_event_handler 233 ButtonPress for hwnd/window 0x20026/2a00002 trace:event:process_events processed 4 events trace:event:call_event_handler 233 ButtonRelease for hwnd/window 0x20026/2a00002 trace:event:process_events processed 1 events
Using icewm (works fine):
trace:event:call_event_handler 334 ButtonPress for hwnd/window 0x20026/1e00002 trace:event:process_events processed 1 events trace:event:call_event_handler 334 ButtonRelease for hwnd/window 0x20026/1e00002 trace:event:process_events processed 1 events
I tried unchecking "Allow window manager to control the windows" and "Allow window manager to decorate the windows" and neither helped LXDE.
Running in IceWM unfortunately didn't fix the turning 2 pages at once but at least the elevator buttons work.
Is LXDE focus stealing maybe?

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:50:59 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
