Installing the latest windows firefox 3 or 4 with the latest shockwave player causes firefox to hang. (Or sometimes show a "bad version" dialog; that's bug 22710.)

It stopped working as soon as Firefox started using out of process plugins. To verify that, you may change dom.ipc.plugins.enabled in about:config and restart Firefox

It's probably the same bug as Flash not working in Wine Firefox. It stopped working as soon as Firefox started using out of process plugins. To verify that, you may change dom.ipc.plugins.enabled in about:config and restart Firefox
That works for me, but maybe that bug is a dup of: bug 17273 or bug 25358
