I finally got Sims 3 onto my Linux computer. Once I got it running it took
about two hours to get to the main menu, then when I tried to start a game, it
just crashed all together. When it was starting up the audio was a bit faster
than the video (which was slower than continental drift). The audio stabilized
once the main menu appeared, but video still was far behind. The odd thing was
my cursor was moving at normal speed. Anyway, I was told that there might be an
issue with wine using some 3D specification, and I had several windows pop up
that said something about wine, then the last one said that it could not start
the program at wine's fault.

One of the warning pop ups say that it had to immediately close due to an error
in the program or wine.

I don't know the version and I don't know what a console output is. I asked
this question because my computer guy couldn't figure it out.
