Summary: Dungeon Keeper 2 cannot be navigated with the arrow keys Product: Wine Version: 1.1.0 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: Rincebrain@gmail.com
While playing Dungeon Keeper 2, attempting to navigate with the arrow keys results in the screen scrolling in whatever direction is pressed without stopping until another arrow key is pressed - thereby causing it to scroll in that direction endlessly.
Never worked, true with native dinput.dll as well, not true in Windows.

--- Comment #3 from Hew hewus.owns@gmail.com 2008-07-09 20:50:22 --- This should be 'normal' severity, as it affects map movement with the arrow keys, map rotation and zooming (page up/down etc), and movement in possession mode. Every DK2 player will experience this bug, and it takes significant concentration to avoid.
It's worth noting that pressing any other button (eg. a letter key) will stop the effect. It appears that the last pressed key thinks it's being held down, so if this is an unbound key, it will stop your view from flying all over the map.
This is with native dinput.dll. DK2 is currently unplayable with builtin dinput.dll due to bug 13290.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-21 11:00:26 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.13 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #5 from Rich Rincebrain@gmail.com 2009-01-24 02:34:29 --- Soon as I dig out my copy of DK2, I'll report back. :)

--- Comment #6 from Hew McLachlan hew@ubuntu.com 2009-02-27 05:41:14 --- Interesting, with wine-1.1.15 the up and down arrows work properly, but left and right rotate for some reason. They should be scrolling left and right. They are set correctly in control options, but trying to reassign any key to anything just changes it to "break".
Not resolved, but much more manageable. Note that I'm no longer using native dinput.dll since MouseWarpOverride was added.

--- Comment #7 from Hew McLachlan hew@ubuntu.com 2009-02-27 06:05:33 --- Ignore that, "alternative scroll" was enabled for some reason. Without it, key scroll works perfectly! :D
Resolved fixed.
