I'm trying to run Fallout: New Vegas, from Steam, under Wine 1.2.1 but after
the launcher screen, when the game should start to run, I get an error dialog
and the terminal provides the attached backtrace.

Behaviour is the same under the git version.

OS: Ubuntu Linux Maverick
Graphics: 
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce 8500 GT/PCI/SSE2
OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 260.19.12

Have you tried the workarounds from bug 24064 or bug 22053 ?

disabling GameOverlayRenderer.dll fixes that crash, secondary crash worked
around by winetricks directx9, thanks a lot

sorry, I didn't think to check general Steam bugs as I didn't have this problem
with any other games.
