--- Comment #2 from Daniel irunit@gmx.net 2008-05-10 17:20:12 --- Also Daniel Hahn has the a similar problem: "-after about 20 seconds in the menu the game locks (wine error). If you have already started a game then it will just continue to work. Otherwise you will have to kill rometw.exe" http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=4496&iT...

Does the demo show the same problem?
Joaopa
No. I tested it with rometw_demo_5.5.zip (MD5 b7d62c23e6479ea3c2fad06c86bbac17).
Main menu works well and battlefield does also works with no problems. I made an attachment.

I deactivated Vertex Shader and Pixel Shader and got more information. Beside that I do not have to kill the process manually. WINE ends this program itself.

Can you attach a console output with WINEDEBUG=+qcap,+quartz ?
Joaopa
Sure, I started it four times with your parameters. In the second time, this line appeard: err:quartz:FilterGraph2_AddSourceFilter Load (80070004)
I made one attachment with this four results parted by a ### line.
By the way, which WINE settings do I have to set? Vertex and Pixel Shader, ALSA, OSS, driver emulation, OS? If I disable Shader options I get other results.

--- Comment #10 from Daniel pastund@gmx.de 2008-05-19 16:04:22 --- Created an attachment (id=13185) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13185) RomeTW Gold 1.5 crashs because of animated background in main menu.
I read more about my bug and started again RomeTW Gold 1.5 but without debug parameter. See attachment for results. During RomeTW running I checked open files by RomeTW.exe with Gnome system monitor (rough translated):
FD Typ Object 3xx file [..]/.wine/drive_c/Programme/Rome - Total War/data/Dump0000.m1v [..] 857 file [..]/.wine/drive_c/Programme/Rome - Total War/data/Dump0000.m1v
I started RomeTW.exe some times and it holds/crashs with FD continuous counted from around 300 to 850-950. Does this mean "Dump0000.m1v" is more than 500 times opened? "Dump0000.m1v" is a regular installed movie file and I am able to view it with several players.
