--- Comment #1 from HennR hennr@hennr.name 2011-01-16 07:28:54 CST --- Does this happen with the demo as well?
Any other wine versions affected?

--- Comment #2 from alexandrbezenkov@gmail.com 2011-01-16 11:00:13 CST --- I didn`t try the demo version. But I tried to patch the game itself. I installed version 1.0 and couldn`t start the campaign, I decided to patch the game and patched to version 1.1 problem remained, patching from 1.1 to 1.2 didn`t solve the problem either. Other versions of WINE were not tested.

--- Comment #5 from alexandrbezenkov@gmail.com 2011-01-17 08:57:16 CST --- Well what can I say. Demo version of the game works fine, as it doesn`t have global map.

--- Comment #6 from HennR hennr@hennr.name 2011-01-17 12:23:46 CST --- OK, could you test an older wine version then, please?
Is there any console output or error logs (DoW creates error logs usually)?

--- Comment #8 from jost mail@jost.cx 2011-01-17 15:01:57 CST --- I can confirm this bug. The game crashes as the global map is opened.
I have the following specs:
- OpenSuse 11.0 - ATI Radeon X850 (Catalyst 9.3 driver, no newer one available for this card) - Latest version of Steam - Latest german version of Dawn of War on Steam - Clear installation of Wine 1.3.11 - Corefonts installed via winetricks to get Steam to work

--- Comment #11 from alexandrbezenkov@gmail.com 2011-01-18 09:04:52 CST --- Well I removed version 1.3.11 of wine and installed version 1.2rc4 from my Mandriva repositories, here is the description of package: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This update provides the latest stable wine. MDV2010.1 provided a release candidate of wine (1.2.0-rc4). This update pushes all the fixes accumulated between 1.2.0-rc4 and final 1.2.0). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So it is stable, but it doesn`t solve the problem: game still crashes on global map. I attached the error log and also the dump file created by the game after crash, hope it`ll help. Also here my specifications:
- Mandriva 2010.2(updated from 2010.1) Free Edition - AMD Athlon 5000 Dual-Core Processor - ATI Radeon HD4350 with proprietary driver version 10.4(latest available in repositories) - Dark Crusade DVD, oficcial english version 1.0(by default from DVD). - No WINE tricks are enabled.
PS: there is a white square around cursor under WINE 1.2, of course it is not actual now as cursor is fine in 1.3.11 :)

--- Comment #12 from RealGecko alexandrbezenkov@gmail.com 2011-04-23 03:59:11 CDT --- OK, people! I have a good news and a bad news. The good news is that problem is gone. The bad one is that you have to change your video card to make it gone. I had Radeon HD 4350 video card with dkms-fglrx 8.791 (corresponds ATI Catalyst 10.11) and problem existed. Yesterday I bought Nvidia GT 430 and installed dkms-nvidia 260.19.36. Now I can play Dark Crusade freely. No more crashes. And even more there is no more textureless models in Painkiller, no more slideshows in Spore and King`s Bounty The Legend....list can be endless. I heard that ATI drivers for Linux is bad, but I couldn`t even imagine that everything is so BAD. I was ATI adept for almost ten years...I think it`s time to change my religion. Sad, but true :(
