My Heritage Family Tree Builder is a free program which can be downloaded from
this link : http://www.myheritage.com/family-tree-builder . I have used it for
a long time on windows and recently tried to install and use it on Ubuntu.  The
installation process went smoothly and completed just fine.  But after starting
to run the program a window pops up and states :

Program Error
The program MyHeritage.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to
close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine.  You
may want to check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips about running this
application.
If this problem is not present under Windows and has not been reported yet, you
can report it at http://bugs.winehq.org.

If more information is required please provide me with instructions to retreive
it, as I am new to UNIX (plus I'm using Ubuntu, so I don't often use the
terminal).  Thank you.

As with others, crashes right ater default selection on language

I posted because my environment is different from previous posts. Family Tree
Builder 4.0 was executed on a Mint-9 amd64 system using wine version 1.2

The problem is still present with Wine-1.3.13: the application crashes after
the language selection screen.

Workaround: winetricks comctl32. This makes the application happy and it will
start.
Tested with FTB v5.0.0.1168.

Still present as of Wine-1.3.31 and with the latest version of Family Tree
Builder 5.1.
Native comctl32 still works around the crash.
Confirming and setting component.
The problem can be reproduced in the freeware version of the app, without the
need of registration (the crash happens before the login/welcome screen
appears).

Yes, i tested the My Heritage Family Tree Builder and found out that it
teminates after the language selection screen . and it showed the error
message. i think +relay logging can help to track the bug .

Via WINE 1.4 on Mint 13, Family Tree Builder crashes after language choice
window.

WINE ver. 1.4 on Mint 13 has same problem as #9 below... error log attached.
