In my point of view, there is a mixture of two things.

1) Online downloader. My test with version ver21309 crashes in all wine
versions with only one line:

err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x73bbb0

2) Game installer. My test with Atlantica Setup ver21309 works fine in 1.1.38,
1.1.39, 1.1.40, 1.1.41, wine-1.1.41-211-g719d904

And as subject is about 2) than i can't confirm this bug report.

The problem is it gives an English Version Installer and an German Version

Install fine here even if i use german version (yours
SetupAtlantica_EU_ver21001.exe), i.e. i can't confirm this bug report.

Hello, this also affects Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO), the common component
being the "Pando Media Booster Downloader".  Perhaps it's best to re-title this
thread to something like "Pando-based installers crash or hang"?  I have some

I was invited to the Lord of the Rings online beta. The downloader app crashes
on startup. This is Ubuntu 10.04 32bit.

$ wine --version
wine-1.2
$ wine lotrohigh.exe

Also tried wine 1.3.

Hello,

it seems all this Pando Media Booster stuff is built with MinGW Java compiler
(gcc-java), e.g. java code compiled to native Windows executables.

I remember the garbage collection (using separate threads) was rather stressful
to heap management, so you could try to force a run with gc turned off.

$ GC_DONT_GC=1 wine ./foo.exe

It might help to get the installers further - to a point where the app/java
logging is enabled that might be helpful to track down additional bugs.

There are probably more bugs buried in Wine bugzilla that suffer from this.
I vaguely remembered a similar issue with mingw gcj but could not find the bug
anymore.
If you find additional apps that die rather quickly with exception stack
overflow, search for "LIBGCCW32-EH-SJLJ-GTHR-MINGW32" and "GCJ_" or "libgcj" in
relay logs -> dupe.

Hi Dan andAF, i tested Atlantica, the downloader seems to work fine using the
workarounds (except i skipped the reg query patch, which wasn't needed
according to AF). The download starts fine, so seems to be fixed with the
workarounds. Only the GUI looks very poorly, like it misses some skin. Same
thing happens here for the LeaguesofLegends downloader. Do you have the same
issue?

League of Legends Pando-based installer worked fine for me with wine 1.3.16 on
Slackware 13.37(current), didn't need any native dlls or anything. Can anyone

Console output of pando downloader (wine-1.3.19).

No such luck here with wine-1.3.19.

Downloader for Black Prophecy goes so far as to make a directory, but its
backend crashes and the frontend continues on as if nothing happened, and fails
to download anything.

The workaround is using GC_DONT_GC=1 right before you launch the installer.

"GC_DONT_GC=1 wine launcher.exe"

I'm not sure if it's for 64bit os's specifically but it does help the installer
launch. I used DFO (Dungeon Fighter Online) as the test subject.

I am downgrading this to minor now because game makers have removed Pando Media
Booster from their installers after the company was sold and began distributing
malware.
