Summary: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Major slowdown near anomalies or in high RAD areas Product: Wine Version: 0.9.43. Platform: PC URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=4794 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: vitaliy@kievinfo.com
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. slows down to 1-2 fps near the anomalies or in high radiation areas - places with "white noise" special effect.
Game is set to static lighting, medium quality.
This is with GLSL=enabled and OffscreenRenderingMode=fbo. Using 'WINEDEBUG=-all wine XR_3DA.exe -dsound -nointro -nodistort' command line to start the game.
Without "fbo" I'm getting bug 7979.

--- Comment #2 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2007-12-23 13:56:41 --- Nope still present here. When just standing in the high radiation place frame rate seems to be okish. But as soon as I start moving it drops down to 1-2 FPS. As soon as "white noise" effect stops, FPS back to where it was before.

Nope not fixed - fbo, static lighting same ~ 2 FPS. That's just you.

--- Comment #8 from Mihail Balabin mbalabin@googlemail.com 2008-06-28 10:39:44 --- Just tested stalker with wine 1.0; bug 9256 seems to disappear, game speed doesn't drop when "white noise" effect is on.
Also, for me stalker had nonstandard image corruption in 1.0-rc1 and 1.0-rc2: screen just turned black (except for HUD elements) near the anomalies or in high radiation areas. With previous wine versions i've experienced the usual slowdwn, like other users. Not sure why.

--- Comment #9 from Mihail Balabin mbalabin@googlemail.com 2008-06-28 11:19:40 --- Nope, bug is still there. Just can't trigger it reliably. Sometimes games slows down, sometimes I doesn't. That's strange...

--- Comment #11 from Mihail Balabin mbalabin@googlemail.com 2008-12-30 09:42:38 --- This bug doesn't appear with wine-1.1.11. Well, I couldn't trigger it reliably before with previous wine versions... But i've tried hard to see the bug this time, playing several maps for about an hour.

--- Comment #14 from koolfy koolfy@gmail.com 2012-08-14 10:21:55 CDT --- This bug should be reopened.
I'm affected with wine 1.5.9 and stalker SoC with complete mod 2009
As soon as the white noise kicks in, FPS drop and/or screen goes black.
It also happens with night vision (at least the green one), so that's an easy way to reproduce it.
As I understand, OffscreenRenderingMode=fbo is now the default, so I assume it's on.(no registry key to contradict it)
Other than that, the game runs fine.
