Summary: Quicktime Uninstall fails Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc4 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: suicidallemming@gmail.com
When I try to uninstall Quicktime it instead reinstalls it. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.
Steps to Reproduce: Applications > Wine> Programs > Quicktime > Uninstall Quicktime
presents window with option to 'repair' or 'remove'. Selected 'remove' and then select 'yes'. During this process of installing, the entire screen goes black, and can only be restored by clicking on the black spaces.

--- Comment #1 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-06-19 23:47:08 --- The screen blanking is bug 1347. What happens after the screen has been redrawn?

--- Comment #3 from Craig73 funrun73@gmail.com 2008-12-05 22:19:31 --- after the screen goes black and you mouse around/touch windows to redraw the screen, there is a dialog that says that Quicktime was successfully installed.
(This also effects Quicktime 7.3.0.70 running on Ubuntu Intrepid with Wine 1.1.9)

--- Comment #8 from Kevin Stange bugzilla@simguy.net 2009-08-27 23:11:41 --- This issue affects Quicktime, Apple Software Update, iTunes, and Bonjour, which all use the same basic MSI design. I would suggest updating the subject. I'm going to tag this bug to each of those applications.
The effective problem is that selecting uninstall, even in a completely clean .wine will process the install script, after prompting to confirm you really want to uninstall the application. It seems as though the installer is running the wrong script.
Upgrading the application using a new installation seems to also fail to remove the old version from Add/Remove programs, which may be related to being unable to invoke an uninstall.

--- Comment #9 from Decimus Strans real.decimic@gmail.com 2009-10-17 21:06:14 --- It's not just QuickTime, it's all the Apple products. Safari did the same thing.

--- Comment #10 from Kevin Stange bugzilla@simguy.net 2009-10-22 16:25:51 --- I just attempted to add back bug links to all the affected AppDB entries for these packages again. Even though they were all accepted, they got inexplicably removed. In case someone removed them thinking it was spam and reads this bug, I did actually verify the installers were impacted by this bug and I still suggest changing the bug title to indicate "Apple" instead of "Quicktime" since it basically affects all Apple products for Windows.

--- Comment #11 from Kevin Stange bugzilla@simguy.net 2009-10-22 16:29:32 --- Also, the component should probably be bumped to MSI.
