stacktrace

Maniaplanet crashes when downloading an update to itself or trying to install a
game.
This happens both with wine-3.9 as well as wine-staging-3.9 and older versions
I've tried.
Stacktrace is from wine-staging-3.9 (if that is a problem please let me know).

trace log with wininet and file channels enabled

I tried myself and indeed, it is crashing. I attach a trace log with wininet
and file debug channels enabled

Yes, the free download is enough. You need to create a (free) account though in
order to trigger the update and crash.
