Make sure you removed/renamed ~/.wine directory and reinstalled this program. If it still fails perform the regression testing as described here: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

I successfully played this game on Ubuntu 7.04 with an nVIDIA-Driver installed on my own. Now - on 7.10 - I'm using the driver from the Ubuntu repository. Maybe this is a problem. Do I have to update the Xorg.conf? How do I do this? Using RegressionTesting with a version of wine, where this game runs successfully I get the same error.

No everything is fixed and works fine.
