Summary: VectorNTI crashes when saving files Product: Wine Version: 1.1.24 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: michaelhust@gmx.de
I installed the new Version 1.1.24 of wine (Opensuse 11.1, KDE 4.2.4) last weekend. Problem: VectorNTI crashes when Vector Files will be saved into the Database. Afterwards, I installed Wine 1.1.20 and everything is fine. I can't say if VectorNTI would work with any version between 1.1.20 and 1.1.24.

Where's the regression test? Where's the console output? Certainly NOT critical.
Reopen if you feel like following the instructions given to you when opening a bug report.

Thanks for your answer and help!
Next time, please attach a log without WINEDEBUG=-all . Also run the program as suggested here http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-8d8c06cf7fb33269c085a07531b61e5c730566e0 .
I started the program without WINEDEBUG. I still used the variable env WINEPREFIX, because I have VectorNTI in a separate folder not in ".wine" (I'am using different folders, because in .wine I installed a game and tried some modifications, which should not harm my VectorNTI installation)
For the regression test see http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting .
I installed git and I will try the other points at the weekend.

Hi,
the problems with newer wine versions increases.
Now, it's not longer more to open a file. Then an error message is shown and a suggestion to contact WineHQ.
I attached my output of the console when I started Vector NTI 10 from the console and tried to open a file using Vector NTI.
I was not able to make the test using gdb. I didn't got an output. But I got some error messages after runing gdb (I added this log in the end of the vector NTI console log file).
I hope somebody can help me with the error messages from the console.
Best regards

--- Comment #31 from Michael Hust michaelhust@gmx.de 2010-06-01 05:37:07 --- Now, I tested more files using wine 1.1.45 (1.2 Rc):
When I make modificatons to a vector file and save it under a new name as gb file, everything works fine!
When I make modifications to a vector and save it under the same name, the program freezes as before and the file ist destroid (0 byte files). I also tried to save the vector first in the database and then as gb file under a new name. This procedure also didn't help. I tried to save the vector under the same name in an other folder, this leads also to a 0 byte file. If a save the modified vector under a new name in the same folder, it works.
Taken together: VectorNTI has still problems when saving the vectors as gb files. It seems this problem occurs only, when the same filename is used.
@Alexandre: May you reopen this bug report as unsolved bug?

Hi,
unfortunately I was too optimistic :-(. Today, I was able to create two new sequences and was able to save it, but when saving the third sequenced the program was freezing. I restarted VectorNTI, modified a sequence and directly when saving this sequence the program was freezing. The next time, I was able to save one sequence and the second failed. It's totally unreproducible. The actual version is wine 1.3.28 (64 bit), OpenSuse 11.4, KDE 4.6.5.
