Summary: Civilization 4 Complete: Original & Warlords have XML errors at startup Product: Wine Version: 1.0.0 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: xvachon@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=14323) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14323) Log
As reported in the comments.
I have installed Civ4 and the warlords expansion so far. I installed the DX9 patch and the missing librairies as mentioned, however I cannot find the librairies I am supposed to delete in the game directory. Are they hidden?
Both games produce these errors at startup:
Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function Current XML file is : GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml
Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function Current XML file is : GameInfo/CIV4GraphicOptionInfos.xml
And afterwards the game vanishes. A log from the original CIV4 game is included

I have reinstalled Wine and stopped using Playonlinux. I have followed the how-to regarding the DLLs and the overrides and managed to install the game completely within Wine. I had two crashes after the patch setups for Warlords and Beyond the Sword were complete, but I do not think that they are relevant for the bug issue here. When I load either Warlords or Beyond the Sword, I get the following error message
Caught unhandled exception creating XML parser object. Current XML file is:
I have attached a combined log for both games. Running the original Civilization 4 game works flawless, despite being slow. Each extension is patched to the latest version (2.13 for Warlords, 3.17 for BTS), and I am running wine 1.1.6 on Ubuntu Hardy X64

--- Comment #4 from Pauli Nieminen paniemin@cc.hut.fi 2008-12-20 12:09:20 --- workaround is native msxml3.dll
To fix this bug wine should implement XDR schema validation and datatype conversions so BTS would be happy after loading the data files.

--- Comment #5 from Pauli Nieminen paniemin@cc.hut.fi 2008-12-21 11:16:43 --- Just extra note:
Also to do is support for XSL Patterns that are MS old XPath like syntax but libxml2 seems not to support any easy way to handle XSL syntax.
Syntax is very similar but differences are hard to convert. XSL doesn't include namespaces for one problem.

With overrides set to msxml3 and msxml3r in winecfg I am indeed able to load all the game's components (original, warlords and BtS) and play according to the latest test's results. That being said, should the bug description be changed to a feature request?
