Bug ID: 38287 Summary: Pioneers: Crashes on third run Product: Wine Version: 1.7.37 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: aekkusu@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 51121 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51121 Pioneers (game) Backtrace
OS: Debian Unstable (Sid) Free download of the game: http://eigen.itch.io/pioneers App Version: Build 7
On the first two runs the game worked flawlessly aside from some few graphical glitches (which I suspect are because of my IGP and drivers as it happens in native apps/programs/games and therefore is unrelated to Wine)
On the third run however I got a crash when launching the game after having done nothing to the game except save a game I was playing.
I attached the backtrace below, also here's the terminal output: http://pastebin.com/VqjHvB4D
The game comes in a zip file, so I won't provide the hashes for the file itself.

--- snip --- System information: Wine build: wine-1.7.15 Platform: i386 Host system: Linux --- snip ---
Did you also test with a more recent version of Wine, or why is the version field set to 1.7.37?

Most likely I set that wine version out of some confusion, sorry. The Debian wine-unstable packages linked in the guide offers only version 1.7.15, so that's the last version available, unless I would build wine myself. Should I proceed to do that?

Okay, tested it now with 1.7.40, the latest unstable version of Wine available through source.

Maybe you need to play the game for a while for the crash to manifest itself. It doesn't matter though, I contacted the original author, and I'm working with him on porting the game to Linux, so hopefully in the future, I won't have to resort to using Wine.
