I removed the default Wine 0.9.49 installation (from Ubuntu 7.10) and compiled/installed the latest Wine (0.9.50) source. Steam runs perfectly fine after adding the "tahoma.ttf" font into the fonts folder but counter-strike 1.6 fails to load. I tried removing the CS files from Wine and reinstalling it via steam but it still doesn't work.
Extra notes: I haven't tried running steam or counter-strike in a few days, so it could have something to do with a steam update -- but in either case, I can't seem to get counter-strike running.
I get the "loading counter-strike" message after launching it, but the message just disappears and nothing starts up.

Steam is required -- the path wine launches is steam.exe with the parameter -applaunch 10

Now CS doesn't even start. I've installed 1.0-rc4, installed steam from .exe installer; installed CS 1.6 via steam. Starting CS just opens start window, that disappears after a while (normal) but nothing happens later.

Yes, to the point. I've even removed everything and followed it once again. Steam installs and works perfectly. Just running CS does not work. I press "start the game"... and nothing happens.

I can confirm this bug still in the newest wine version 1.1.8. counter-strike some times don't start. my workaround is to start it many times over a link on my desktop fast. so it will be start after the ~5th try.
please vote for this bug. it is really annoying :|
