As for why I though it should be removed, see my comment in the bug 9029. The bug isn't directly related to this bug in any way, except that there is a program that is affected by both bugs (if you solve bug #4437, bug #9029 still remains, and vice versa, most probably). But it's the devs mileage that matters (I don't know how to code at all so I wouldn't know), if it helps it's in the dependency tree then leave it there, by all means =)
