Summary: unhandled page fault when installing EccoPro 4.01 16 & 32-bit versions Product: Wine Version: 0.9.5. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: wine-files AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: adri_l01@yahoo.com
Created an attachment (id=9544) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9544) log of page fault
I am running Ubuntu 7.04 Fiesty Fox for AMD64.
When I try to run the setup program for EccoPro 4.01 (whether directly or from the autorun) the install screen starts up and displays a message "Searching for installed components" at which point it freezes and the uncontrolled page fault shows up. Clicking on the button at the top of the window kills the program as expected, though no screen updates are taking place.
All other programs I have tried to install using Wine 0.9.5 have worked properly.
Thanks.

--- Comment #1 from Louis Lenders xerox_xerox2000@yahoo.co.uk 2007-12-08 02:15:43 --- Hi, i guess it's the application from this link, right? ftp://ftp.netmanage.com/support/pub/utilities/EC401/Ecco32/
For me it crashes the same way. From a debug log it seems as if my whole harddrive is scanned , to find a file called "ecco.exe". I was able to get the installer finish by doing this: Start wincfg, then under the "drives" tab remove your "z:" drive (and others), so only "c:" is available. Then restart the installer. Could you try if that helps? Thanks

--- Comment #2 from Jessica adri_l01@yahoo.com 2007-12-08 22:20:06 --- Removing all but the c:\ drive doesn't work for me. I get an error that it can't find my home directory and then the page fault.
In the last section of the backtrace it mentions winevdm Threads: process tid prio (all id:s are in hex) 0000003b (D) c:\windows\system32\winevdm.exe 00000036 0 <== 00000039 0
winevdm.exe is not in the place it is referencing.
Could this be the problem, and if so, what do I do?
Thanks, Jessica

I tried to install Ecco Pro 4.0.1 with Wine 1.0.0 on Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop AMD64, and had the same issues. I tried removing all but the C: drive as suggested above - didn't work. I then removed all drives except C: (../drive_c) and H: (/home/david), and that did it - the 4.0.1 installer worked. Then upgraded to v4.0.1.1 with no problems. And best of all, Ecco seems to be working correctly.

--- Comment #4 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2009-07-17 12:53:05 --- Is this still a problem in the latest Wine?
If so, can you update the URL as the current one is a dead link? Thanks.
